🎬 Recent Highlights
The league is dominated by the Old Firm rivalry between Celtic and Rangers — one of the most intense derby fixtures in world football. The two Glasgow clubs have won the vast majority of Scottish titles between them, with Celtic winning nine consecutive championships between 2012 and 2020 before Rangers halted their run in 2021.
Celtic's achievement of winning the European Cup in 1967 — becoming the first British club to do so — remains one of Scottish football's greatest moments. That team, known as the Lisbon Lions, were all born within 30 miles of Celtic Park.
The Premiership uses a unique split format after 33 games, where the league divides into top six and bottom six for the final five matches. The bottom club is relegated, while 11th place enters a play-off against a Championship side. Aberdeen, Hearts and Hibernian are among the other clubs with significant followings.
